A collective of young musicians fromVerona, who since 2009 (about) havecreated a style of music oftenconsidered “folk-psychedelic”, recently”electronic”, in reality it is quitepersonal to be precisely catalogued.
Since the release of the EP “Singar” (Vaggimal/42Records -2011), theirname has been rebounded from blog toblog, from magazine to magazine.
Many concerts behind the scenes allover Italy, arriving also abroad, in theUnited States, for a mini tour.

Several prizes and participations in thebest European festivals and venuesdedicated to new and experimentalmusic.
Since November 2017 they have beenaround Italy presenting their latestproject: Nuova Speranza. Among thestages, they also chose Sicily, arrivingat the Dalek Studio . . . particularlycharming place in the city of Messina, also Residenza d’Artista, dedicated toexperimental music, coming from allover the world, quality.
And it was at the Daleks that we metthem, chatting to each other.
C. +C. Maxigross. A singular name. . .What does this mean, why this choice?
This name is a game. And the game isfor us an important common thread inour approach to things. The title wehave chosen to give us comes from asupermarket in our areas (the Veneto). Without a particular reason attracted usand we gave it to our band.
How did you get to be C+C Maxigross?
Mah, what moves from within eachmember of our group is love, passionfor music and the desire to do it.
We were born as a collective, soalthough some of the band’s membershave remained constant over time, wehave changed many formations.
Let’s say that our “origin” finds its rootsin the friendship between us and in thepassion for music, which are twoelements that have alwaysaccompanied all our differentformations.
With “New Hope”, your last project untilApril on tour (when you will reabraceyour city, Verona), for the first time you sing in Italian . . . Until now you havealways sung in foreign languages . . .with a special focus on English. Whythis change?
The choice of Italian as the language”protagonist” of our latest work is theresult of a regeneration of us as a band.
Initially we were influenced a lot by akind of Anglo-American culture; usingEnglish in our texts made us feel closerto the world. But now we have acompletely different kind of “need”. Weare doing a tour in Italy, our country, where certainly not everything is fine, the difference with foreign countries wesee, but say that, in our way, we want tobe on his side, on the side of our land, on the side of who we are. . . Writing inItalian is for us to be more authenticand a way to talk about something thatconcerns us more closely. . . Thischange is a fundamental step for us. Welook more closely at reality, thenanalyze ourselves and the contextaround us. A “new hope”, a newresearch that is at the center of ourlatest record.
Initially, your music was framed in the”folk psychedelic” genre. Lately, however, in the “electronics” . . . Yetlistening to you, during your beautifulperformance here at the Daleks, personally fascinated me very much acertain musical dynamism of yours. Itwas very interesting to see that you allplayed a bit ‘all . . . electric guitars, bass, drums, percussion, winds . . . I foundyou essentially experimental, without aspecific category, but harmonious . . .Do you agree, you believe in specificcategories?
First of all, your thoughts are a greatcompliment to us! We’re glad thatyou’ve reached our goal. . . that is, toplay, for fun but also deeply, beyondthe categories.
Obviously we have always tried tochannel our “making music” in onedirection, making it our signature, butwithout statically “filing”. What wealways say is that we play first of allbecause we like it and, especially lately, we do not want to remain static, framedin a certain way, in a certain instrument. In this particular moment our will is toopen up, to “open up” our music.
And apart from that, what are you andwhat are you waiting for?
Now, next month, we’ll be recording thenew disc and then we’ll see what comesnext. . . .
